Top secret new blog revealed  
I'm not sure if I'm supposed to leak this just yet, but here it is:

The Detroit News is the 11th most read newspaper in the U.S., with a circulation of about three-quarters of a million, and is the 10th most read newspaper website according to Wikipedia. The Detroit News is owned by Media News Group, which also owns the Denver Post, L.A. Daily News, San Jose Mercury News, etc. If I get fired from this gig, it will be the largest newspaper I've ever been fired from.

I'll continue here in Livejournal with politics and personal stuff; I'll see you over there for the Bizarro. Keep passing me the news tips, and let me know what you think of the new blog. I've had a few comments that their commenting system takes some time to get used to (all the comments are on one page, for example). My only advice is to leave more comments until you get used to it!

In the "cracker culture" article, there's a typo in your "Eric says." The word "impact" shouldn't be "impapct." ^_^

Aside from that, it look great. And is going to become one of my regular reads. ^_^

Yeah, there's a chance for an RSS feed and it's on my to-do list, but I haven't talked to The Detroit News about it yet -- presumably they wouldn't have a problem with it as long as it just moves headlines and links, but anything more than that I'd guess they might not want the traffic swiped from their advertising-driven site. I did hack this together, but it's pretty crude -- it just tells you there's been an update, and doesn't give you any clue what it is. It ain't ready for prime time, which is why I haven't mentioned it, but here you go:

Yeah, The Detroit News wanted to add a few more blogs (they've had a few, mostly sports, for a while now) and thought I'd be perfect I guess (I've done tons of art work for them over the years). We'll see how long this lasts -- hopefully it grows huge enough that they can't justify killing it no matter how bizarre it gets.

Awesome! As far as drunk with power goes, i think I have to wait until I've lasted at least as long as that disgraced Washington Post right-wing plagiarist blogger before I get too megalomaniacal ...

Glad to hear you've hit prime-time, so to speak -- and gladder to hear there's at least a rough RSS feed to slap on Ye Olde Friends List, since otherwise I'd never remember to go check it!

The RSS feed isn't nearly as rough as when I first posted this. Origianlly it just told ypu that there wa sn aupdate, and gave no clue to what it was. Now you get headline and a link to the blog. Much better.
