I've got a new comic over at webcomicsnation which marks a new beginning for me. For about the past year I have been drawing my comics on paper from a spiral ring notebook I found in my yard. Many readers and artists have asked me why I've insisted on notebook paper, explaining that notebook paper was beneath a fine artist of my stature and that I should be using the best damn paper that money and or shoplifting could buy. For the past year I've been explaining that my use of notebook paper is an attempt to keep the shit real, return to our roots of scribbling in notebooks, and show that anyone can do great art regardless of budget. That, and I'm either gonna kick all of your asses with one hand behind my back, put 'em up, put 'em up, or sabotage my own art career trying.
However, starting today, after about a month and a half of fasting, soul-searching, and artistic as well as surgical experimentation, I have begun a new era in my comics. The most obvious change you will see is my shift in medium. Rather than drawing on notebook paper, from now on I will be drawing on human flesh. I'm not sure if I'll be able to pull this off on a weekly basis right away. Murder, grave robbing and taxidermy are all hard work. As this is a major move in my artistic career, I will of course appreciate any and all comments, criticism and kisses regarding my notes about my coming Supreme Court confirmation which I've painted on human flesh.
(In other Supreme Court news, the Bush administration's latest candidate for resignation is someone who supports unauthorized strip searches of 10-year old girls, would overturn Roe v. Wade, and would allow race-based discrimination according to Think Progress's summary of Alito's career.)
Update: Comixpedia has posted a little something on this, so I'd just like to give a shout out to all the Comixpedians who may be visiting ...
